Larry Cox

Musician | Writer | Composer | Arranger

Yamaha artist and son of a minister and amateur musician, Long Beach, California born and raised R&B musician, vocalist, producer, writer, and director Larry Cox began his professional music career at an early age.  After producing his first Gospel album consisting of 8 original songs at the age of 14, it wasn't long before he realized his passion and calling to the music industry.

Throughout high school and college, Cox experimented with different genres of music such as Jazz and Classical and landed a run with R&B singer Brian McKnight.  Soon followed his first major tour with Pop star Jessica Simpson in 2001, and his first gig as music supervisor and director on BET’s hit comedy TV show Comic View in 2004.

Over the years, Cox’s musical influence has earned him several notable TV and film credits and has built him an impressive artist portfolio. Live performances with such artists as Usher, Pharell, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Avant, Earth Wind & Fire, Petey Pablo, Loretta Devine, Mary Mary, and Miley Cyrus are on his resume, to name a few.  In 2010 Cox was hired by Star Trak Entertainment and appointed as the “right hand man” and Music Director for Billboard Award winning and Grammy nominee singer Robin Thicke.  Under his musical direction, number 1 hit single “Blurred Lines” soared to the top of the charts becoming the longest running number one single in 2013, and breaking the record for the largest radio audience in history.

Instrumentally, Cox’s strengths lie in playing the piano, organ, and Rhodes, and he is proficient with the bass guitar, drums, strings and brass instruments.  With over 20 years of vocal experience, he sings lead, back up, reads music and teaches as well.    Maintaining relevancy in the fast paced, ever-changing music industry has been no easy task, but Cox, with his infinite musical talent and down to earth personality makes it seem effortless.

Although his career has taken him around the world and back, Cox’s connection with his community and his volunteer efforts reflect the humble sincerity of his heart.  Maintaining his roots in the church, Cox has been the lead pianist and music director for many churches in the Greater Los Angeles area.  He has also served on his local chapter of the NAACP and volunteers with youth, giving them opportunities to explore the world outside of their immediate surroundings and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.

Today, Cox’s significant contributions to the music industry are widely recognized and heard by millions across the globe, as evidenced by his endorsement with Yamaha, and affiliations with Geffen Records, Interscope Records, and Star Trak Entertainment.  Always moving forward, he remains focused on furthering his R&B, Pop and Gospel music career and working with his production company Beat Legends Music.
